Ronny Alte wants to distance himself from Anders Behring Breivik. He is told not to – therefore he leaves his role as leader of the Norwegian Defence League.
“I’ve left my position as Leader of the NDL,” confirms Ronny Alte to tv2.no on Thursday evening
“For the simple reason that someone in Admin wants to refuse to allow me to go out and condemn terrorism,” says Alte
Admin is the Steering committee of the NDL.
Wanted to take disassociate from Breivik
“I can’t be in an organisation that is associated with him,” adds Alte.
It all started when Alte was called as a witness in the ongoing terrorism trial against Anders Behring Breivik. Alte wished to use his time in the witness box to take a stance against what Breivik has done.
“I want all the distance I can get from Breivik, and Admin thought that was wrong”, he says, “I can’t be a member of an organisation that is associated with Breivik”.
He says that he has been phoned up by 30-40 Journalists, both domestic and overseas. Alte claims he has been been refused permission to talk with them.
“Admin say that I shouldn’t talk to them, but should refer them to our homepage”, he explains
Alte has removed himself not just from the position of leader, but from the whole organisation.
Tv2; “Those who don’t agree with you, is it people with more extreme views than you?”
“Do I have to answer that? To put it this way, they’ve got a different opinion than me.
Thinks NDL is breaking up
Tv2; “Is this people who support Breivik’s actions?”
“No, I don’t believe so”, he says
Now he says that he is considering starting an organisation himself
Tv2; “Does that mean that NDL is breaking up?”
“I’m afraid so, unfortunately. But I hope my departure doesn’t affect that.” He adds
Øyvind Strømmen, an expert on the Far Right, believes the Far Right Environment in Norway will shrink as a result of the Court Case.
Folk har fått ein vekkar, dei har sett kva galskap dei har vore med på. I tillegg er det vorte vanskelegare å rekruttera nye medlemmer, meinar Strømmen.
“People have had an eye-opener, they’ve seen what lunacy they’ve been involved with. In addition it’s become a lot harder to recruit new members.”, says Strømmen,
Ronny Alte vil ta avstand frå Anders Behring Breivik. Det får han ikkje lov til. Difor har han trekt seg frå leiarrolla i NDL.
